APMC 2008-9 Community Service Programs

This year the APMC is reaching out to the community to support Austin organizations and families in need, while also providing a great opportunity to involve the kiddos in the action.

Community Collections at APMC Monthly General Meetings
This year, the APMC is partnering with the Capital Area Food Bank to sponsor a non-perishable food and coin donation drive at each of our meetings. Since we all have stocked pantries and coins rolling around, this is an easy way for us to give back to the community and help families in need. Moreover, our children will enjoy an active role in the donation effort, as they add coins to the Food Bank's piggy bank and watch it grow from September through May.

Partnership with the Annual MADD Jingle Bell Run 5K

APMC has a great partnership with the Jingle Bell Run, offering a Kids’ Corner with activities for the littlest runners and cheerleaders. In 2008 the Jingle Bell Run is moving to The Domain!

Periodic Family-Oriented Community Service Activities
We offer our member moms specific events where families can volunteer to make a difference, while modeling what it means to give back. A great example has been our participation in the Communities In Schools (check them out at www.cisaustin.org) School Supply Drive and sorting day, which took place in mid-August 2008. Members are informed of specific activities along the way, and we always welcome new ideas!
