Special Events 2008-9

This year we’re planning some great events to bring us together for family bonding AND give us a break for some well-deserved time off. Watch This Space for more info, and we’re looking for a few helpful members to pitch in and make sure it’s the best it can be…

Family Picnic

• Date: Sunday, October 19th
• Time: 11am - 2pm – with activities mostly in the 12-1pm range, eating/social time on either side
• Location: Northwest District Park

  The park has play areas for both toddlers and bigger kids, lots of shade and big tables for us to set up camp.
  There are also areas where kids can ride bikes, ride-ons or other means of transport!

  • Pumpkin Decorating
    The kids would bring their own small pumpkin to decorate.
    We would need a few people to bring leftover bits of colored markers, yarn, stickers, glitter, glue sticks etc. for decorating
  • Hunt & Gather Scavenger Hunt
    I'll be putting together a list of items for the kids to find and little prizes to win
  • Any other suggestions welcome!

Mom’s Retreat

Get away, take a break, and bond with the moms! We’re planning a weekend getaway, and we’d like all our members to join us.

As part of our new and exciting playgroups this fall, the APMC would like to introduce (drumroll, please…)

The NEW

Weekend All Age / Family Playgroup!

No weekend pass to the Austin City Limits Music Fest? Come join us! We think this is a great new add to the APMC playgroup lineup, since:

• Many of our member-moms work or have other commitments during the week that make it hard to attend weekday playgroups as we’d like to
  
• So many of our families are new to Austin, and thus welcome a chance to meet other families through the APM
• Dads and other family members need support and friendship, too!

We’ll plan to have these playgroups at least once a month, on a Sunday or Saturday afternoon, at either members’ homes or a local park or other destination. Our October 19th APMC Family Picnic will fit with these, too. Join us for our first meet-up to relax and plan future dates, too! And don’t forget to check out our complete calendar of events at www.austinmothers.org , including field trips, mom’s night out and playgroup info.
